Leading the Future of Mining in Ghana

For far too long, women have been underrepresented in the mining sector, facing unique challenges and barriers to entry. Despite constituting over 50% of Ghana's population, women make up less than 10% of the mining workforce. This glaring disparity is not only a moral imperative, but also a economic necessity. By excluding women from the mining sector, we are denying ourselves the talent, skills, and perspectives that are essential for driving growth, innovation, and sustainability. The mining industry is a significant contributor to Ghana's economy, accounting for over 30% of the country's export earnings. However, the benefits of mining have not been evenly distributed, with many mining communities facing significant environmental, social, and economic challenges. Women in Mining Ghana believes that women are key to unlocking the full potential of the mining sector, and to ensuring that the benefits of mining are shared equitably among all stakeholders.
